Demi Lovato took to Twitter to address a joke that actors on a Disney show made regarding anorexia—a disease the actress went to rehab for recently. Lovato starred in the "Camp Rock" movies, "Sonny with a Chance," and the 2009 movie "Princess Protection Program"—all Disney produced. According to a tweet from Lovato, actors on Disney's show "Shake It Up" said the following: "I could just eat you up, well if I ate," to which the actor addressed: "What are we promoting here? #notfunnyATALL."
This all transpired on Dec. 23. Lovato went after her former employer and said: "I find it really funny how a company can lose one of their actress' from the pressures of an EATING DISORDER and yet still make joke about.. ..that very disease..... #nice.
"Dear Disney Channel, EATING DISORDERS ARE NOT SOMETHING TO JOKE ABOUT."
That same day Disney responded from their DisneyChannelPR Twitter account and said: "we hear you & are pulling both episodes as quickly as possible & reevaluating them - It's NEVER our intention to make light of eating disorders!"
After all of that unraveled, Lovato took the time thank them and the next day cleared a few things up after she also said that actresses are getting "thinner and thinner" and that she misses the days of "That's So Raven" and "Lizzie McGuire"—both shows are from Disney.
"I have nothing against any specific actress/actor or tv show.. Nor do I think there's anything wrong with girls who aren't curvy, I just was stating a fact that there needs to be more variety on television so young girls growing up don't feel pressured to look one specific way. Tall, thin, curvy, short, whatever you are, you are beautiful. :)"
