Like Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato's fans are known for calling her a "role model." Especially with the Disney stars, it seems as though these young teens are being groomed to be looked up to by millions of adoring fans. The only problem is that they're just kids themselves.

In a recent radio interview, Demi Lovato spoke out about how she feels about a role model. She said of her pre-rehab days, "Kids used to tell me, 'You're my role model.' And I'd want to shake them and be like, 'Whyyyyyy?'" This is in reference to the fact that the actress battled emotional and eating disorders and didn't feel like she was in a place where kids should be trying to copy her life. "Demi Lovato rehab" is one of the most googled terms. Probably because so many of her fans are curious how someone with everything could need to go to rehab.
Lovato is now out to become the positive role model she knew she could be. By talking openly about just that—why she needed rehab and how it's helped her. She says, "I finally feel like I can inspire people. I can be proud of it. Because I know that if I can use my voice to speak to one person, or one family, then I've done my part" What a great way to rebound from a hard ordeal. Demi Lovato can now look at her fans in the eye and be proud that she's a role model.
Will Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez suffer similar fates? Time will tell, but teen stars like Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan have a long history of falling from grace. Let's hope that this crop of stars can stay healthy and happy.
