Demi Lovato is making a comeback after personal issues such as an eating disorder and self-mutilation hindered her career last year. The 18-year-old actress and singer announced that her third album will be released this fall.
According to MTV News, the former Sonny With a Chance star announced her album release during a Cambio Live Chat on Thursday, saying she has about “twenty something” songs recorded, including a Spanish version of her recent single.
“I hope you’re screaming and jumping down in your room right now because I’m about to tell you when my album is releasing,” Lovato said before announcing the release date as September 20.
Although she didn’t reveal an album title, Lovato hinted she’s planning a tour. “If I was to tour, I would announce it soon and maybe, possibly, I’m in the works of putting together a tour. Maybe. And maybe it’ll be all around the world. I don’t know. I’m just saying,” she suggested Lovato released her first single since treatment, “Skyscraper,” on July 15. She has openly explained that the song was like a cry for help before treatment.
"I had to go to that place in my mind that I was in when I recorded the song, so it was very emotional. It was actually a very intimate set. There wasn't very many people there,” she said of shooting the music video.
“We took a plane with about 15 people and that was it. We went to the middle of a desert and shot this music video. ... It turns out to be my favorite video I've done and hopefully you guys feel the same."Along with garnering praise from such artists as Jordin Sparks, Katy Perry and Selena Gomez, “Skyscraper” was also a hit with fans. It debuted at No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week.
