Since deciding to focus on her music career and leaving Sonny with a Chance, Demi Lovato has revealed she’s releasing an album. While no date is set for the album’s release, the Disney star revealed recently that the first single is track “Skyscraper.” Although “Skyscraper,” too, does not have a release date, Lovato unveiled the single’s artwork today on Twitter and promised that it will arrive shortly: “Bummed that I couldn't be the first person to show this BUT!!! ladies and gents.... My single artwork cover for my NEW SINGLE "SKYSCRAPER"... http://say.ly/ciMt3y Let's trend #skyscraper for my new single release soon!!!!!”
“Skyscraper,” according to Lovato in an interview with AceShowBiz.com, is a personal track about her struggles leading up to her stay in rehab. She mentioned: "To me it symbolizes my journey from the person I was to the happy healthy person I am today, and the fact that people are able to rise above anything, despite the odds.”
Lovato has not officially given a date for the release of “Skyscraper,” but according to Amazon.com, the single is expected to be in stock by July 14.
Although Lovato has given out minimal information about her upcoming album, tracks may include a song partially in Spanish and another produced by Timbaland. About her album, Lovato said: "With my new album, I'm hoping to provide inspiration for girls everywhere who are going through the same issues I've faced. I think this will come through in a lot of the material."
From the sounds of it, Lovato’s still-untitled album isn’t the typical rebel-from-Disney fare seen from Miley Cyrus, Hilary Duff, and Lindsay Lohan. In addition to gearing up for a new release, the Disney star was nominated for two Teen Choice Awards: Choice Twit (regarding her Twitter account) and Favorite TV Comedy Actress.
